ABOUT
Clent Hills Historic Station is located in the heart of the Ashburton Lakes area, tucked away in the secluded Hakatere Valley surrounded by high country stations.
The homestead is almost 100years old, and the hut, bunkhouse and shearers quarters are of a similar age, although renovated inside.
Clent Hills Station used to be a huge property that included what is now Castle Ridge Station, parts of Arrowsmith and Lake Heron Station, as well as a large area that is now public conservation land. Come and enjoy the great outdoors and high country history in our quiet slice of paradise.
OUR ROOMS
We have have something for everyone; Mt Hutt Pods, Cabins, a bunk room, powered sites for caravans or camper vans, and tent sites. Te Araroa Trail walkers and horse trekkers are welcome!
FACILITIES
All of our rooms, powered sites and tent sites use the shared kitchen and bathroom facilities. The kitchen and dining area is large, modern and fully equipped with everything you need to cook and clean up. There is a full sized oven with electric stovetop and a microwave. There is a fireplace with plenty of firewood for the colder months. There are 2 toilets and 2 showers, each in their own lockable room. There is a washing machine which is free to use, and an outdoor clothes line to dry your clothes. Laundry powder is available for purchase at the office, along with a few other basic supplies.
No dogs allowed, except by prior arrangement as strict conditions apply. Please enquire prior to booking if you have pets travelling with you.
We welcome large group bookings and we offer a discounted rate if you book the entire facility.
EXTRAS
Linen Hire
We have bedding and towels available for hire for the bunk room and tent sites.
Grazing available
We have horse grazing available in paddocks with good fences and water troughs. Hay is extra.
Equipment Hire
We have various adventure equipment for hire; fishing rods/reels, waders etc

Fishing
Rainbow, Brown and Brook Trout, as well as Quinnat Salmon are in the nearby lakes and streams.
Scenic Flights
Helicopter or fixed wing flights through the southern alps. Heli pickup available on site
Hiking
Lots of great public land trails and huts in the area including Te Araroa Trail just down the road
Guided Hunting
Talk to your hosts about a guided Red Stag, Chamois, Tahr or Fallow deer hunt
Local Tours
Lord of the Rings or farm tours of Erewhon Station on a wagon pulled by the Clydesdales
Horse Riding
Horse trekking nearby, or bring your own horse and ride the public trails. Grazing available.
